Benefits of Drinking Alcohol

AlcoholDrinking beer or wine in moderation is beneficial to health. According to Dr. Lluis Serra president of the Mediterranean Diet Foundation in Spain, have proven the beneficial effects of drinking wine and beer in moderation. Moderate is defined as 2 to 3 cups per day for men and 1 to 2 in women.

Beer Reduces the Risk of Osteoporosis

BeerThe research group at the University of Extremadura (UEX) in Spain “Metabolic Bone Diseases” published a study on the beneficial effects it has moderate beer intake on bone quality in women in the journal ‘Nutrition’.

Researchers Juan Diego Pedrera Zamorano, Jesús María Lavado García, Raúl Martín Roncero, Julian Garcia Calderon Fernando, Trinidad Rodriguez Dominguez and Maria Luz Canal Macías have published a study on 1697 healthy women of the province of Cáceres, in particular, 710 premenopausal, 176 in perimenopause (the time period leading to menopause) and 811 postmenopausal.

The values on the quality of the bone marrow were analyzed by densitometry of the phalanges, which measures bone mass. The results showed that beer drinkers had higher bone mass at the phalanx than non-drinkers, UEx reported in press release.
